Partners to the Pass

The people of Wilmore have come together to connect Wilmore, Kentucky to Pass Christian, Mississippi.

Main Partners

City of Wilmore (www.wilmore.org):

  • Sent some representatives in early November to scout and survey needs.
  • Helped by providing some tools, water and resources for the Asbury College Thanksgiving Relief Trip
  • Sent a city employee truck & trailer on the Thanksgiving trip
  • will continue to provide funds for ongoing relief work in the Pass.

Asbury College (www.asbury.edu):

  • Students gave money during a chapel service and matched a donor to raise a total of over $30,000 that was sent through the Salvation Army specifically to Pass Christian.
  • “Operation Restoration” Trip headed by Mark Troyer (mark.troyer@asbury.edu) and Joe Brockinton (joe.brockinton@asbury.edu) including close to 80 people who gave up their Thanksgiving week to do relief work.
  • The group stayed at First United Methodist Church and in a tent village and filled work requests from residents in Pass Christian for various tasks.

  • Thanks to Hugh Sims for working fast and giving deep discounts for the work team to have t-shirts for both the Thanksgiving and Spring Break trips to The Pass. (www.integritypremium.com)

  • Owners Daivd and Faith Grosz are pledging monthly support to the project through their candy vending sales.

Cre8tive Group

  • Chad Crouch, President, sent employees with the Asbury Group to help with various jobs during the Thanksgiving and Spring Break trips. (www.cre8tivegroup.com)

Wooster Brush Company

  • Donated through a connection of an Asbury Student, Morgan Workman, over 80 sets of painting materials to be used by Asbury and Wilmore Work teams and others in The Pass. (www.woosterbrush.com)

The Bakery Outlet (Nicholasville)

  • Provided much-appreciated breakfast items for Spring Break

Cornerstone Baptist Church (Richmond, KY)

  • Donated drywall screws for rebuilding projects

Westport United Methodist Church (Westport, KY)

  • Donated money and sent their pastor and a deacon to help out the Spring Break team

Wilmore Elementary School

  • Mrs. Keebler’s leadership club assisted with a children’s book drive to send books with the Asbury College Group over Thanksgiving.

Community Service Center of Wilmore/High Bridge

  • Connie Sunda, Director of the Center supplied work clothes for the participants for both trips.

Bluegrass Chapter of the Red Cross

  • Asbury alum Kerry McKinney arranged the borrowing of air mattresses for the Thanksgiving and Spring Break trips. (www.redcrosslexky.org)

  • Todd Goepper, manager of Pioneer Foods, and other vendors helped supply some food for Asbury's trips. (www.pcconline.com)

SS Lifeline

  • Susan Smith donated first aid kits for vans traveling down and being used in doing work projects in The Pass.

Wilmore Lions Club

  • Thanks to the Lions Club of Wilmore who generously donated money toward the November and March Operation Restoration trips to The Pass.


Wilmore Free Methodist Church

  • Though they already sent a team to Louisiana to do flood relief, they collected Children’s books for the Pass Christian Community too. Thanks Pastor Diddle! (www.wfmc.net)

Bluegrass Safety and Health

  • Thanks to Marcy Thobaben, Owner of Bluegrass Safety and Health. Marcy procured some safety equipment from FEMA and did some safety training for the Wilmore/Asbury Team during their first day in The Pass.

New Hope United Methodist Church of Crooksville, Ohio

  • Because of a connection with alum Cass Argo, New Hope donated some food, supplies and a cash donation to go toward supplies and gas for the Thanksgiving Trip.
